Its optical construction is highly advanced, featuring 16 elements in 10 groups, including a massive DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) element to maintain sharpness while keeping the lens compact. Unlike many ultra-wide lenses with bulbous front elements, this lens features a flat front element, allowing for the use of standard 72mm screw-in filters—a major advantage for landscape photographers using polarizers or ND filters. The lens utilizes a convenient retracting mechanism to reduce its physical footprint when not in use. Built for professional reliability, it is splash-proof, dust-proof, and freeze-proof down to -10°C. For tactile control, it includes the iconic Manual Focus Clutch for instant switching between AF and MF, and a customizable L-Fn button.
